Asian American spotlight: Ashley Argota

Actress Ashley Argota at The 8th Annual Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party in Los Angeles, California.

Argota was born January 9th, 1993 in Redlands, California, USA. She is a Filipina American actress best known for her role as Lulu Johnson on True Jackson, VP. She has also starred in Nickelodeon's hit TV series, iCarly and 2007 movie 'Schooled'. Recently, she has been casted as Kelly Peckinpaw on Nickelodeon's new TV series, Bucket and Skinner's Epic Adventures.

In an interview with Teen Vogue, Argota describes her character, Kelly.

"Kelly is a surf instructor, and I've never even tried surfing! I've had to learn surfer lingo and how to hold the surfboards properly while being on the show. Kelly is also really good at gently deflecting romantic advances from Bucket and other boys in school. But in real life, it actually makes me really uncomfortable when boys flirt with me. I never know what to do. I wish I had Kelly's boy expertise."

Argota enjoys the set very much, telling Teen Vogue that Bucket and Skinner's main front men love playing pranks on her. What she enjoys most are the stunts, but she also has had much fun dancing and singing on the show.

Sounds exciting! Hope we get to see more of this amazing actress on TV.

Be sure to watch Kelly on Bucket and Skinner's Epic Adventures on Nickelodeon!

Slowly but surely, Asian Americans make thier way into commericals

Target's 'Trail Mix' commercial featuring actors Mike Park and Jennifer Del Rosario

Starting this year, a string of commercials targerting a broader and more diverse audience began popping up throughout the U.S. From big name car companies like Honda with their Ninja Commercial and Volkwagen's Car Salesman Commercial to Iam's Dog Commercial and McDonald's Strawberry Lemonade Commercial featuring Quest Crew's Victor Kim, Asian Americans are making their ways into the homes of Americans like never before.

The biggest chain of Asian American commercials I have seen so far is Target. Check out their latest back-to-school themed commercial featuring a 2nd grade teacher.
