J. Reyez is back with Tycoon in this new MV based on Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Niggas in Paris". The video was titled, "Chiggers in Paris" but was taken down and reuploaded as "Niggas in Paris Remix."

I'm not one for rap, but J.Reyez is pretty good. Plus, he has improved. I've been seeing satire used a lot lately to debunk stereotypes and show how silly they are. Some artists have done well, but others have failed. J. Reyez is certainly one of those who can talk about stereotypes in his songs and make you think.

2NE1 reaches #5 on Youtube's Music Chart

After releasing a string of hit singles, I Am the Best, Hate You, and Ugly, it was no surprise to fans (called Blackjacks) to see their lovely ladies on Youtube's front page. Latley, K-pop has been hitting the front pages of Youtube with millions of hits within days of release. However, it was shocking to see an older K-pop video reach the success of gaining enough views to reach #5 on the U.S Youtube chart (breaking the record set by Hyuna's Bubble Pop MV at #11.)



Since it was a year old video, Netizens (aka internet citizens) have claimed that the view counts have been skewed. Some fans and K-pop lovers alike have called fowl, accusing fans and antis for using robots which replay the video over and over to increase the view count. Whatever the reason, it's a great feat for K-pop and especially for these talented girls.

AZIATIX is 'Slippin Away' in this new MV

AZIATIX is an Asian American group featuring Eddie Shin, Flowsik, and Nicky Lee.



From the soft opening to the simple raps, "Slipping Away" will not slip away from fans' memories. This song is intriguing from beginning to end without having to add in funky club beats, an unnecessary dubstep, or a catchy chorus that has to make up for what it lacks in verses.

Aziatix is more than a diamond in the rough. Good bands like this make me question how America can sit back and not promote these kinds of songs. The Asian American artists of today are all diamonds in the rough by definition. There is so much talent there, yet they are undiscovered to the mainstream public.

If you've never heard of Aziatix, or if you have but never listened to them, I would give this song a listen.

Girl Group 2NE1 is 'UGLY'

The Korean girl group that's famous for thier strong, edgy image that differs from the usual cutesy and bubbly music that Korean pop is best known for is back with thier newly released song 'UGLY'.  Opposite to the not-so-modest powerhouse anthem "I Am the Best" and newly released rage-filled "Hate You", 2NE1 comes back with a heavyhearted track full of rock-inspired rifts and self-loathing lyrics such as "I think I'm ugly and nobody wants to love me, just like her I want to be pretty," and "I'm all alone". Not unlike "Lonely", 2NE1 brings another sad song with an upbeat twist. It's relatable for the many heartbroken young and old who just don't ever feel adequaete enough. Perhaps it is not a postive thing to repeat, but it's a song that makes you realize that you are not the only one who feels like he/she is not enough sometimes.

Personally, It's not my favorite song from 2NE1's newly released songs. "Lonely" showcased the best example of 2NE1's vocal talent. And "I Am The Best" somewhat bollywood-rock-hip hop song is a club hit. (And was an all-kill.)  However, "Ugly"'s heartbreaking lyrics might change all that.

2NE1 is just like YG Entertainment's idea of a powerful idol group: they change, develop, and always try new things. This is what UGLY represents. In a world where "beautiful is better", and the mentality is to always stay thin and thinner, 2NE1 stands out. Thier song is an anthem to the girls who see stick-thin idols who refuse to show thier flaws at all costs. 2NE1 has flaws and that's OK. We have flaws, too.

Like I said previously, 2NE1 is relatable to young girls--in Korea and internationally. With thier strong image, fresh beats, and their sense of being 'real', 2NE1 shows that they are in the music game to stay. And possibly can transcend it. I look forward to thier U.S. advancement.
