K-pop goes global for free

On wednesday (July 27th), Lee Soo-man the chairmen of the popular Korean music entertainment company, S.M. Entertainment, decides to take the next step to further promote K- pop in the international market.

After receiving a plague from the Ministry of Culture, Lee sat down with Culture Minister Choung Byoung-gug. Lee revealed his plan to create an iTunes-like service for overseas fans in hopes to encourage the spread of the Hallyu Wave.

 "The local music market needs a new digital music distribution platform - an iTunes-like one or an entirely different one - not only to allow purchasing digital music and globally sharing music for free but to give profits to songwriters from corporate marketing and advertisement," Lee said.

Upon visiting Paris, France, Lee met with fans who were inspired to learn the Korean language after falling in love with K-pop. Lee responded by suggesting that Korea build an international Hallyu school for foreigners to learn more about Korea's pop culture.
